NX Studio 1.11.0 needs preinstalled 64 bit Windows 11 or macOS 14, 15 or 26, at least 4 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended), 1 GB of free disk space (3 GB recommended) and a 1280 by 720 display. Windows needs an Intel Core i series processor or better; on a Mac the vendor asks for a 6 core Intel or Apple Silicon chip.
Supported operating systems
The NX Studio system requirements list exactly one Windows release: Windows 11, preinstalled 64 bit editions only. Windows 10 is not on the list for version 1.11.0. On the Mac side the program supports macOS Tahoe 26, Sequoia 15 and Sonoma 14; the release notes for 1.11.0 state that support for macOS Ventura 13 has ended.
If your computer runs an older system, the current installer is not supported there. The version list on the vendor's product page shows only the latest build, so plan an operating system upgrade before relying on the program for new cameras.
Hardware requirements
The disk space figure applies both during installation and while the app runs, so keep room free on the startup drive even if your photos live elsewhere. The vendor adds that video may not play smoothly even on machines that meet the recommended specification.

Camera connection
Transfers through Nikon Transfer 2 need a built in USB port on the computer. The vendor warns that transfers may not work as expected through a USB hub. The camera must support MTP/PTP or PTP and Mass Storage.
A few very old cameras cannot connect at all: COOLPIX 100 to 990 models and the D1, D1X and D1H. For those, copy files with a card reader. The supported cameras page lists them in full.
Internet connection
The program works offline for viewing and editing, but sign in with a Nikon ID, the online help, web services and update information all need an internet connection. If you edit on a laptop without a connection, download the help as a reference beforehand.
How to check your computer
If the installer refuses to start or stops halfway, the install and transfer fixes cover the documented causes, from missing administrator rights to running antivirus software.
- On Windows, open Settings > System > About and confirm Windows 11 and a 64 bit operating system.
- On a Mac, open the Apple menu > About This Mac and check the macOS version and chip.
- Check free space on the startup disk; keep at least 3 GB free for comfortable use.
- If everything matches, go to the download page and pick the installer for your system.

Frequently asked questions
Does NX Studio work on Windows 10?
Windows 10 is not listed for version 1.11.0. The requirements name only preinstalled 64 bit editions of Windows 11, so installing on Windows 10 is outside what the vendor supports.
Does it run on Apple Silicon Macs?
Yes. The macOS requirements list a 6 core or better Intel processor or Apple Silicon, on macOS 14, 15 or 26.
How much RAM does the program need?
At least 4 GB, with 8 GB or more recommended, on both Windows and macOS. Large RAW files and video benefit from more memory.
Is macOS Ventura still supported?
No. The release notes for 1.11.0 state that support for macOS Ventura 13 has ended. Supported versions are Sonoma 14, Sequoia 15 and Tahoe 26.
Can I connect the camera through a USB hub?
The vendor advises against it: file transfer may not work as expected through a hub. Use a USB port built into the computer, or a card reader.
