What you get in the download
The NX Studio download is one self extracting package that installs two programs: the editor itself, for viewing, processing and editing pictures, and Nikon Transfer 2, which copies pictures from a camera or memory card to the computer. Before you install
- Log in to an account with administrator rights; on a Mac you will be asked for the administrator password.
- Close every other program, including antivirus software, before you start the installer.
- Keep at least 1 GB free on the startup disk; 3 GB or more is recommended.
- Check that your camera is on the list of supported cameras, especially for older COOLPIX and D1 models, which need a card reader for transfer.
- Have an internet connection ready if you want sign in, online help and update checks.
